Updates With Respect for History

According to Zeeland Historical Society records, home #9 on this years parade schedule is the second oldest standing house in Zeeland. Although the layout of the home has likely been changed many times, the new owners, Taylor and Abby deRoo, very intentionally worked to preserve the remaining historic features of the house.


Some of those features included original hardwood floors, built-in cabinets, trim, doors, and windows where possible; to complete the look, they added new farmhouse fixtures too, such as, apron front sinks, rustic barn beams, a sliding barn door track system in the master bedroom and primitive antiques and furnishings throughout the home.

The final project included a new garage, transforming the old porch into a dining room, finishing a loft attic that had never been used before, re-siding the home and adding antique shutters.
